About This Moab Elopement Adventure

“We started our morning at Dead Horse state park before the sun rose to capture some star photos. We watched as the sun rose, the clouds turned a bright pink and slowly lit up the incredibly large canyon.

Next, we hiked over to an massive overlook to the canyon. We were the only people there and it was so silent besides Rutwij and Pooja’s joy.

We headed back into Moab for some brunch before they decided they wanted to hike out to some fantastic red rock towers. Hiking is so important to both of them, and they were very excited to able to do something they both love so much on their big day.

We finally ended the day with Pooja and Rutwij reciting their vows to one another under a massive arch as we watched the sunset.

Special details I loved about their day was Pooja’s beautiful Indian wedding outfit. The scarf was so much fun to play with blowing in the wind, and she just rocked her outfit.” [Julia, the photographer]

Top Tips for Couples Eloping in Moab

“Wear good shoes that you can hike and climb around in!

Also, we did this shoot in November, so having a warm jacket to wear in between shoots. We also had to drive a bit off road to get to some locations, so having a good car is important to not get stuck.

Do a WHOLE day. Moab is so incredible, and there are so many different epic spots. Give yourself enough time to fully explore and hit different locations, so you’re not too rushed.” [Julia, the photographer]

Memorable Moments From This Elopement

From the photographer:

“Marlboro point. I had never been there before, and we were completely alone. This was early in the day, so I was still getting to know them a bit. I feel like this is when they really let loose and were super goofy and fun. They were running towards each other, spinning around, making faces, and it just really broke the ice and set the happy, carefree tone for the rest of the day’s adventures.

Another really special moment was at the very end of the day. They decided they wanted to say their vows at the end under the Corona arch. That location can be busy, so I was a bit worried about that. But when we got there it was empty. They stood under that absolutely massive arch and said their vows. It was so magical and special and emotional, and it was such an honor to be apart of it.”

Final Words of Advice From The Photographer

“Just because you may have already celebrated your wedding, whether it be at a courthouse or with all your friends and family, it’s never too late to do something special just the two of you. They decided that this was something that felt more ‘them’ and although they had a quick city hall ceremony, they felt like this would be the wedding of their dreams.” [Julia, the photographer]
