About This Turkey Run State Park Elopement in Indiana

Photography by SparrowSong Collective

“Turkey Run feels like a whole other world in the fall, like you’re transported out of Indiana and into Lord of the Rings. Sirenna and Victor exchanged vows by Sugar Creek with her sister officiating and their son, Sam, and the most beautiful fall scenery! Then we hiked through the cliffs and canyons of Turkey Run, had several snack breaks, and then headed to their campsite for a cake cutting and campfire to end the evening.

Sirenna had the most amazing vision for their elopement at Turkey Run in fall. What I loved most about them is that their main priority was about having a fun and relaxing experience in nature with each other and their son.” [Corinne, the photographer]

Permits and Leave No Trace (LNT)

“A $100 photography permit is required for this location! And it is extremely important to remain on the marked trails, and only climb rocks where it is permitted, as delicate, ancient species of moss and liverwort grow in these canyons, and foot traffic off trail destroys these species.” [Corinne, the photographer]

Top Tips for Couples Eloping Here

“Keep in mind the amount of rainfall recently! Several creeks run through different canyons, making trails muddy at times, but the stunning views are always worth it! (and if you don’t want to get your clothes muddy, a pop-up changing tent works in a pinch too.) And since there can be rocky, wet surfaces, or ladders / steps to climb, wear good hiking shoes! Another good tip is that the park is significantly less busy on weekdays than weekends, so if you want more privacy and seclusion, eloping during the week is a fantastic idea.” [Corinne, the photographer]

Memorable Moments From This Elopement

From the photographer:

“Their ceremony overlooking the cliffs and waters of Sugar Creek was a really beautiful moment, with lots of happy tears, giggling, and heartfelt vows. Another great moment was hiking through the canyons, and a big gust of wind showered autumn leaves on us as Victor and Sirenna danced and spun around, it felt like a magical autumn forest. And my favorite moment was during blue hour, when Victor got a campfire going and they cut the cutest cake and snuggled by the fire, it was immaculate vibes to end the day with.”

Details We Love From This Elopement

“Some details I loved about their day are the little racoons on their cake, and taking photos of their rings with autumn leaves. They said the racoons felt like them the most, and was the cutest little detail to add to their cake. And they have the prettiest matching black rings that look perfect with all the autumn colors!” [Corinne, the photographer]

Final Words of Advice From the Photographer

“I would highly recommend eloping at Turkey Run State Park in the fall! It is a place that feels like you stepped into a Lord of the Rings movie instead of Indiana, and has the most gorgeous fall color and views in October. And there are a ton of cool and fun activities to do, including horseback riding, picnicking, or kayaking down Sugar Creek, as well as gorgeous A frames and cabins nearby for comfortable lodging and getting ready. It truly is a hidden gem of a location in Indiana, and perfectly captures the enchanted forest vibe!” [Corinne, the photographer]
