About This Elopement at Kinbane Head, Northern Ireland

“Monica and Bryan met while performing as actors in L.A. Monica found me through the Wandering Weddings directory and booked me to capture their elopement in Northern Ireland.

They stayed at a quaint seaside cottage at Ballintoy Harbour and spent the day exploring the beautiful sites on the Causeway Coast. They finished their day with a beautiful ceremony at Kinbane Head, followed by a toast of Guinness in a local pub.

For their second day of photos, they explored ancient friary ruins.” [Shauna, the photographer]

Planning Your Elopement in Ireland

“For Bryan and Monica’s elopement ceremony, the location did not require a permit. However, couples and vendors should always keep up to date with local information, as permit requirements can come into effect regularly as spots get more popular.

In Ireland, we are fortunate that there are still many places that are not over-developed allowing us to enjoy the rugged scenery. It is important to keep these wild places protected, so I urge every couple considering Ireland for their elopement to adhere to Leave No Trace principles.” [Shauna, the photographer]

Top Tips For Couples

“I can recommend their ceremony location only for the most adventurous couples who are in good physical health with no mobility or respiratory issues. It is a difficult hike to get to this view, so I would also not recommend this location for couples who are bringing guests along to their elopement.

The great news is that there are many easier accessible locations nearby that are perfect for any couples not wishing to incorporate a strenuous hike into their day!” [Shauna, the photographer]

Memorable Moments During This Elopement

From the photographer:

“My favourite moment was witnessing their first look in the sun filled garden on a cliff edge overlooking the harbour. Their emotional reactions to seeing each other dressed for their ceremony for the first time were extraordinary. Documenting them sharing this quiet moment was a wonderful start to the adventure.”

Final Words Of Advice From Photographer

I recommend getting on a phone call with the vendors that you will spend the day with and make sure they are a great fit for you. Monica and Bryan carefully selected the vendors they wanted to work with for their elopement and it was a brilliant result. From the first phone call, I enjoyed getting to know them and knew that we would have lots of fun together. Everybody involved in their day gelled together so well, from the hair and make-up artists, Sam the celebrant, Trevor the driver and Nigel the videographer. There were some great conversations, lots of laughing and wonderful memories made.” [Shauna, the photographer]
