Hey! We’re Katy & Jim, a Scotland elopement photographer team specialising in intimate weddings and elopements in Scotland, Europe and beyond (we love to travel!) If you’re dreaming of a one-of-a-kind wedding day set against a beautiful landscape and filled with a bit of adventure, and lots of laughter and love…we’re your guys!

We really enjoy helping our couples to create an intimate, stress-free elopement wedding day that’s unique and special to them; a day that’s a true reflection of your personalities and an experience that you will remember and relive with great pleasure every time your anniversary comes round each year.

We always take time to get to know each and every elopement couple that we work with, so that we arrive on your day as friends – not just your photographers. Our approach to your Scotland elopement wedding day is laid-back, unobtrusive and fun. We’ll be a warm and supportive presence, offering a little light direction to ensure you’re looking your best, but otherwise documenting the moments as they unfold, and capturing you at your most relaxed and natural…with no awkward posing!

We can advise on everything from stunning ceremony locations to cool places to stay; from wonderful celebrants to other awesome suppliers.

If you are lovers of life, light and the great outdoors, if you’re the kind of people who like to do your own thing, rather than follow the crowd; if you don’t want to go down the large-scale, traditional wedding route, but are in the process of creating an intimate Scottish elopement wedding day that’s unique and personal to you – whether the backdrop is a mountain, forest, beach or your own backyard – we would love to chat about your plans!

Wow - The Caryls are magic workers. Truly. Hire them, please. You will not regret it!

We decided to get married in Scotland at a castle with 31 of our closest friends and family. Initially we had talked about eloping in the highlands and I knew that I had to work with them. I was drawn to every single photo they took! When we decided that a small wedding was better for us, I reached out and was beyond thrilled when they said they were available and happy to work with us that day!

We booked in 2020 for a September 2021 wedding. We had a few zoom meetings with Katy and Jim and right away they made us feel at ease! We traveled from Washington State to Scotland during covid these covid times, which of course were not without stress - but Katy and Jim kept us in the loop with how things were looking in Scotland which helped keep our stress away!

The day of the wedding they were patient, kind, and being around them actually brought a calming sense during such a busy day. They worked so hard and the images they delivered to us brought us both to tears. Looking through them is like reliving the best day of our lives all over again. They truly captured every detail and every emotion we felt that day, in the most amazing way possible. We’re forever thankful for them!

We cannot praise The Caryls enough, they made our day truly special.

Our whole experience with Jim and Katy was wonderful. We had an initial meeting over Zoom and from that moment we knew they were the right people to have photograph our elopement. They were full of exciting and original ideas, and were extremely easy to chat to. They immediately put us at ease and gave us some great practical advice about eloping in Scotland. They were always easy to contact and responded very quickly to any questions or queries we had.

Both Katy and Jim have a remarkable skill set and we felt completely comfortable with them capturing all the emotions of the day. The images they created are incredible and we will cherish these memories for years to come. We couldn't recommend them highly enough.

Katy and Jim are FANTASTIC! It's difficult to find the words to describe how great our whole experience was. From our innitial enquiries and Zoom calls to the updates, suggestions and research that both Katy and Jim did, we felt so comfortable and calm about our wedding day. We were amazed by the exact timings that they knew for where we had to be to catch the sunset and it was clear a recce had been done to know which spots worked the best. It goes without saying the the images we received were just beautiful. The photos told the story of our day so well, we absolutely love them.

We got married in April this year and decided to elope to Scotland when our original plans were ruined due to Covid. We were instantly drawn to the Caryls' cinematic, documentary style of photography, as well as how natural and relaxed the couples looked. We were both quite nervous at the thought of having our pictures taken all day, but from our first Zoom call with Katy and Jim we were immediately put at ease.

Katy & Jim helped us so much in the planning process - from helping us choose the location, accommodation, and recommending a Humanist to perform the ceremony. Nothing was too much trouble and no question too silly.

On the day, our nerves about having our photo taken quickly disappeared. Katy & Jim were so easy to chat to and at times we forgot we were even having our photo taken! We have been blown away by the photos which perfectly captured the whole day. Our friends and family have also commented that they felt they were there with us when looking at the photos, which is all we could have asked for.

We would absolutely recommend The Caryls to anyone looking for a photographer, especially couples who are thinking of getting married in Scotland. They are a wealth of knowledge and expertise, as well as being really lovely people to spend the day with!

We cannot praise the Caryls enough!

They are the nicest most amazing photographers and they couldn’t have helped us any more, from helpful suggestions on flowers, accommodation and suits to even helping us find the perfect location to exchange our vows.

Katy and Jim go above and beyond to make your day feel special and relaxed.
Not to mention the photographs came out absolutely stunning, we are still getting comments about how beautiful our photographs are 7 months later.

If you are hesitant about booking with The Caryls don’t be, you will not be disappointed.

Katy and Jim - wow where to begin.... These guys are awesome!

We eloped in June 2021 and had the absolute best day. It was just me and my partner, plus Katy and Jim who also acted as our witnesses. They were super relaxed, fun, professional, and went above and beyond in every respect.

Tiny example my (now wife) told me that happened on the day, Jim was tying his shoelace and I mentioned casually that my flower button has come off. He literally didn't even finish tying his shoelaces, he jumped up and came over to fix it. Really small detail, but it is just one example of how amazing they are to have around on your big day.

Then of course, the photos - wow. Check out their website or Instagram and you'll get a sense of their unique style, and fantastic skillset. I highly recommend getting in touch if you're feeling adventurous and want to go to places not many people have been for epic wedding photos. We climbed a hill (mountain?) at 930pm and got the most incredible sunset shots. Unreal. Katy and Jim specialise in this sort of thing - finding unique locations and turning the day into an adventure. Way more fun and interesting than your stock standard wedding!

I could go on, but you get the point - these guys are incredible. If you're lucky enough to secure them for your elopement, make the most of it. Climb a mountain, go to that island, embrace their (and your) sense of adventure. 6 stars if it was possible - thank you both so much!
