About This Colorado Springs Small Wedding

“Mandi and Evan incorporated the spirit of an elopement after deciding to expand their guest count. I think their day showcases some of the best places to have an elopement or intimate wedding in Colorado Springs that aren’t Garden of the Gods. Getting ready in a very cute boutique hotel, where they would later return for a private dinner in the green house and courtyard. Having their own private time together in the mountains of Colorado Springs, where they popped champagne, set up a table, and wrote their vows. Having a larger guest count, they had their ceremony at Spruce Mountain Ranch in Larkspur, CO before returning to the Kinship Landing for their private dinner. I find their day inspiring for couples who want to elope, but also decide to include more of their family and friends.” [Rachel, the photographer]

Permits and Planning For This Elopement

“For where we did most of Mandi and Evan’s photos and vow writing, there is no permit required. For any city park in Colorado Springs, there is no permit or reservation required for wedding ceremonies under 50 people with no decorations or structures . However, I would keep that number to 10-15 if you choose to have a wedding ceremony in North Cheyenne Canon Park out of respect for other visitors. This area is home to a lot of hiking and mountain biking trails. We did not have the ceremony here and made sure to clean up after ourselves after writing vows.

For the ceremony, Mandi and Evan booked a ceremony only package from Spruce Mountain Ranch, which worked out great for the number of people that came. It gave them the privacy that they wanted without having to do the whole wedding celebration there.” [Rachel, the photographer]

Top Tip When Trying to Recreate This Type of Intimate Wedding Experience

“Take advantage of the diversity of landscapes all within one city. I love that Cheyenne Canon has options to hike or even drive to those mountainous views, but also has some great forest, river, rocks, and even a waterfall in the lower part of the Canyon. It can be busy at times and I recommend going at sunset or sunrise if possible to have more privacy and better light. Don’t be afraid to use some of the trails for photos to have privacy even on a busy day. There is no cell service in the park and the gates open at 5 am and close at 9pm in the Winter, 10pm in the Summer so plan accordingly for hiking.” [Rachel, the photographer]

Picking a Venue That Matches Your Elopement Style

“I love everything about Kinship Landing where they got ready and had their dinner. It’s such a great option for intimate weddings, but I also love it for elopements. Their rooms are so stylish and there is so much to work with. Each room has a garage door that opens to a small balcony.” [Rachel, the photographer]

Memorable Moments From This Wedding Day

From the photographer:

“When they wrote out their vows together and their dinner. I love when couples take the time to write their vows together on their wedding day. It was great for them to get to slow down, enjoy the forest, and just be together in the quiet before heading to their ceremony with everyone. I also loved all the caterpillars in the forest. It just felt so immersive and I was so excited one crawled across their vow books while I was taking those detail shots. They were crawling on Mandi’s dress, so they just felt like part of the experience.”
