Hi! I’m Frances – a wedding and elopement photographer based in South Georgian Bay, Ontario. When I was first starting out my wedding photography business, I left the big city of Toronto to forge a life in a small valley filled with beautiful nature and almost all of the outdoor activities I love so much. I am an avid trail runner, paddler, rock climber, hiker, forager, back country camper, star gazer and day dreamer. I’m an enthusiastically learning to fly fish and would love more than anything to join the falconry club. Less for the hunting aspect, far more for the hanging out with owls and hawks. Did you know that some owls coo when you pet them!? Be still my heart!
I love traveling all over the world, exploring new places and meeting new people. That includes exploring places even in my own backyard. There’s always something new to discover and I find beauty everywhere I go. I am an incredibly curious person and am not really one to turn down a new experience. My travel style is varied: I once went from a cross country ski in trip to an off the grid cabin in Temagami at -31 °C to the busy streets of Bangkok at +32 °C, all in the span of 24 hours. My favourite place I’ve visited so far was Iqaluit, Nunavut in late November. I have yet to see the northern lights in their fullest glory, but it will happen in this lifetime!
I have an incredible built in travel partner in my husband, who is even more curious and adventurous than I am. We’ve been married since 2016. Our first date was a Kevin Costner marathon and we relive that every year on Kevin Costner day (November 28th) by settling in to another marathon of his movies. The first one was almost 12 hours long and included Waterworld, Field of Dreams, Dances with Wolves, and Robin Hood Prince of Thieves. Yes, we have driven to the actual Field of Dreams. Yes, we danced to Everything I Do on our wedding day. Yes, we have been extras in a movie of his. and Yes, you will now think about me every time someone mentions Kevin Costner. You’re welcome.
I believe in: wide open spaces, wearing your heart on your sleeve and intimate gatherings. That there is magic in light. That everyone has a story worth telling and I would love to know that story. That images should make you feel something when you see them, whether you know the people or not. That you can get your wedding dress dirty, or walk down your aisle barefoot, or stop for an ice cream before your wedding portraits. That portraits are just an excuse to have an adventure with the person you love the most. I believe that you should and CAN make your wedding exactly what you want it to be. You can make it yours.
I’ll be by your side to document the connection between you and your loved ones. I capture moments as they naturally unfold and like to create an experience for my clients, rather than just take pretty pictures. I live for the little moments, the quiet and sometimes hidden moments that genuinely show what the day was like. I capture the feeling of the day so you can relive it for years and even generations to come.
