Sunrise Vows and a Wild Wyoming Celebration in Grand Teton National Park

Ashleigh and Donnie’s elopement in Grand Teton National Park was the kind of day that lingers long after it ends—quiet, emotional, adventurous, and full of the kind of joy that comes from choosing a life that feels true. This wasn’t their first marriage, but it was the one they both knew was forever, and they wanted to begin it in a place that reflected the beauty and strength of their bond. The Tetons, with their towering peaks and still alpine lakes, offered exactly that.

From sunrise vows beside a mirror-still lake to an afternoon of horseback riding, whiskey cocktails, and the sweetest family moments, their day blended elegance and adventure in the most effortless way. Filmed on nostalgic Super 8 and led by the people they love most—their children—this elopement unfolded like a storybook of second chances and soul-deep love.

Meet Ashleigh and Donnie

Ashleigh and Donnie share the kind of connection that feels steady and lived in, the kind of love that comes from knowing exactly who you are and choosing each other with full hearts. This was not their first marriage, but it was the one filled with clarity, intention, and the quiet certainty that comes from finding a true partner. When they began dreaming about their elopement, they wanted a place that reflected that sense of renewal and strength. Grand Teton National Park, with its wide open skies and mountains that rise straight from the earth, became the landscape for their new beginning.

They brought their children with them, turning their elopement into a family adventure full of meaning. The shared experience, the stillness of sunrise, and the honesty of the vows made this day feel not like a step forward, but like a moment of coming home.

Why They Chose the Tetons

The Tetons have a presence that is impossible to ignore. They stand ancient and unwavering, a place where the world becomes quiet enough for truth to be heard. That was exactly what Ashleigh and Donnie were looking for. They wanted stillness. They wanted a backdrop that felt powerful and grounding. They wanted a place that held space for both joy and reflection.

Grand Teton National Park offered all of that and more. With its alpine lakes, sagebrush meadows, and the kind of morning light that turns everything gold, it gave them a setting that matched the depth of their commitment. The park invited them to slow down, breathe deeply, and begin their marriage with the mountains as their witnesses.

Practical Advice From The Photographer

“Wear hiking boots and pack your dress—change in the woods and let nature be your bridal suite. Bring layers, water, and snacks—it’s about a 1.5 mile hike each way. The reward? A peaceful, heart-filling start to your elopement day with views that’ll take your breath away.”

A Sunrise Ceremony in the Mountains

Before the world woke up, before any footsteps touched the trail, the family hiked into the park by headlamp. The air was crisp. The water was still. The sky slowly shifted from deep blue to soft pink, brushing the peaks with morning light. It felt like the Tetons were opening their arms just for them.
They reached an alpine lake that remained perfectly quiet, completely untouched by the day. With their children standing beside them, Ashleigh and Donnie exchanged vows that felt both tender and timeless. There were tears, laughter, and the unmistakable peace that comes from knowing you are exactly where you are meant to be.
The scene was so serene it felt almost unreal. No crowds. No noise. Just water, mountains, and the sound of their promises carried gently across the lake.

Here’s Why You Should Book Corey for Your Elopement

“I offer full service elopement planning. Ashleigh + Donnie reached out to me in April and in less than 3 months (July) they were eloping in Grand Teton National Park. I do full service planning, suggest places to stay, vendors, hair and makeup artists, places to eat, activities (even when we aren’t together) and hooked them up with the local horseback riding outfitter. I want my couples to have a stress free, fun day they will remember for a lifetime. Plus my husband is their officiant. I photograph on digital, film, cell phone and Super 8.”

A Day of Adventure and Joy

After their sunrise ceremony, the family made their way back into Jackson for a slow, relaxed breakfast together. Coffee never tastes as good as it does after an emotional morning in the mountains, and the quiet moments they shared were just as meaningful as the vows themselves. A stop under the town’s iconic elk antler arches added a touch of whimsy before they returned to their lodging for a midday rest.

The second half of the day unfolded like a summer dream. In the afternoon, the family headed out with JH Outfitting for a horseback ride through the rolling sagebrush. With the Tetons rising behind them and the warm Wyoming sun stretching across the landscape, the experience felt both grounding and exhilarating. The kids lit up at every turn, soaking in the freedom and simplicity of being outdoors.

Waiting for them afterward was Peino the beer burro, a fan favorite who instantly brought smiles and laughter. With baskets full of refreshments, Peino became the most unexpected yet unforgettable guest of the day.

JH Outfitting set up a beautiful spread of local meats, cheeses, fresh vegetables, shrimp cocktail, and Wyoming whiskey cocktails. Surrounded by open fields and mountain air, they shared a meal that felt like pure celebration. There was no rush. No schedule. Just a family savoring a day that had already become a core memory.

Family Moments That Made the Day

What made this elopement so special was how seamlessly Ashleigh and Donnie wove their children into every part of the experience. They were not just witnesses. They were participants in the start of a new chapter.

During the ceremony, the kids stood close, listening intently as their parents promised forever. Later, while they explored Jackson and rode horses together, the laughter that echoed across the sagebrush made the day feel even fuller. It was not just a marriage. It was a blending of lives and hearts.

The Super 8 film captured it all with a kind of nostalgic softness: small hands gripping saddle horns, the movement of horses against the light, the easy smiles that unfolded naturally throughout the day. Every frame held a sweetness that made the entire experience feel timeless.

Advice from the Couple

Ashleigh and Donnie’s biggest piece of advice is simple and powerful: let your day reflect who you are now. Allow space for joy, for adventure, for quiet moments, and for the people who shape your life in the most meaningful ways.

They believe in choosing locations that move you, activities that make you feel alive, and a pace that encourages presence rather than perfection. Your elopement can be peaceful and playful all at once. It can hold both emotion and adventure. Most of all, it should tell the story that matters to you.

What’s one piece of advice you’d give to couples who are dreaming of their own elopement?*

“We had both had traditional weddings previously. This time it was important for the focus to be the act of marriage rather than an event. A simplified yet intimate ceremony in a location that spoke to both of our hearts was something we could connect with. Do it entirely with intention. Be specific, focus everything around the act of the marriage.”

Final Reflection

Ashleigh and Donnie’s Grand Teton elopement was a reminder that love can begin again in the most beautiful ways. Their day was filled with softness and strength, held in the arms of the mountains and guided by the bond they share with their children.

It was not a performance. It was a promise. A sunrise that marked a new beginning. A day grounded in intention, laughter, and the wild grace of Wyoming.

In the quiet reflection of the alpine lake and the golden glow of their horseback ride, their marriage took root in a landscape that felt both wild and welcoming. And long after the day ended, the memory remains bright and steady, just like the Tetons themselves.
