Snowy Boho Elopement Inspiration Session in South Prairie, WA | Lauren & Ryan
Gina Paulson set this dreamy bohemian styled elopement on the outskirts of Mt. Rainier National Park. Her vision was to capture the rich fall colors of the Pacific Northwest, but Mother Nature had other plans. Shooting at the end of November, the photographer recalls, “…we woke up with sunshine and in the middle of the shoot, we had a seriously bizarre and awesome snow storm. It was completely unexpected, but that’s totally Pacific Northwest weather!”
Gina’s goal was to escape the formal vibes of a traditional wedding to create a natural, intimate ceremony instead. She used copper as her binding element throughout the shoot and wove it into every facet of the session to create a cohesive look. “Anytime a wedding is set in nature like this, I love the idea of bringing in complimentary textures and colors to play with what is already there,” she says. “I really built most of this around the location spot first… The macrame altar hanging really added that boho element as well as some beautiful texture. The florals were seriously stunning, darker rich colors that popped against the subtle grey of the rocks and trees… when planning styled shoots, much like a wedding, you work so hard to coordinate so many different details and vendors, but you don’t really get to see the finished product until the day of!”

“Finding a common element and carrying it [throughout] the shoot was something that I [knew was] really important for the cohesiveness of the event. I tried to incorporate the copper in a few different ways to really help tie it all together…”

“When planning a wedding in the Pacific Northwest, always be prepared for the unexpected with weather, and ultimately, embrace whatever it throws your way! We live in such a gorgeous place, from rain to sun to snow, just fully embracing these elements gives you the opportunity for some really unique and gorgeous images!”
