Sapphire Point Overlook – Dillon

Sapphire Point Overlook is easily one of the most popular spots in Colorado for both elopements and intimate weddings. This spot overlooks Lake Dillon, along with the Gore and Tenmile mountain range for your ceremony. This is also a great affordable option for couples who don’t want to break the bank on “venue fees”.

Although this location gets pretty crowded, it’s a great small wedding venue in Colorado with mountain views, perfect for a wedding party smaller than 35 people.

Looking to have an outdoor, adventurous wedding day near Breckenridge? All you have to do is reserve a two-hour time block through Recreation.gov.

Reservation fee: $120

Guest limit: 30 guests (with 2 assigned parking spaces)

Spires Ranch – Buffalo Creek

A new, outdoor wedding venue in Colorado is Spires Ranch. The owners of this venue actually have over 30 years of combined experience in the industry and personally developed the venue to provide a personal wedding experience. We hear sunrises and sunsets here are pretty amazing with panoramic views of the continental divide.

Maroon Bells Amphitheater – Aspen

Another popular mountain small wedding venue for elopements is Maroon Bells Amphitheater in Aspen, CO. This spot is only ideal for ceremonies, like most park options we mention. Receptions are not allowed, and the maximum number of guests allowed is 50 (which is perfect for your small wedding).

Maroon Bells is easily one of the best mountain wedding photography spots in Colorado. If you’re interested in renting this outdoor venue, then head to reserve your date and pay the rental fee. What does your fee cover? A private area for your ceremony with the best mountain views you’ll see. Your fee also allows you to have a more intimate experience without tourists.

Reservation fee: $200

Guest limit: 50 guests

San Sophia Overlook – Mountain Village

If you want an overlooking view of the mountains with the town of Telluride, then San Sophia Overlook is perfect for you with gorgeous mountain views surrounded by grassy fields. Reservations can be made through Telluride Ski Resort and the venue itself is available from June-October (summer season) and December-March (winter season). The venue itself can be accessed by a Gondola to take you to an elevation of 10,540 ft.

Reservation fee: Pricing starts at $6,000 for the summer season and $5,000 for the winter season.

Packages Available? The Telluride Ski Resort handles all catering on-site.

Aspen Wedding Deck & Overlook – Aspen

Mountain and meadow views are located three miles above Aspen, CO. This location offers seasonal ceremony sites and venue options, so “when” you’re deciding to get married is big at this venue. Aspen Wedding Deck is at an elevation of 11,212 feet with views of the Elk Mountains. The deck itself is perfect for summer or fall weddings and can be reached by a gondola ride. There is a wedding overlook available in March and April for spring and winter weddings.

Chautauqua Park – Boulder

If you’re looking for another cheap wedding venue in Colorado, then Chautauqua Park in Boulder is gorgeous. This is probably one of the most popular locations to explore in Boulder. We recommend planning your micro wedding during the weekday. We also love sunrise ceremonies at this location. What do you need to do to have your wedding here? Boulder OSMP will require you to reserve a picnic shelter or specific ceremony site. If you’re planning on having an arch and chairs, then you can also reserve the lawn outside the Chautauqua Dining Hall. You can only elope on the trails if you have NO guests, are not having a ceremony, and your photographer has the OSMP permit for photography.

Reservation fee:  Weddings, ceremonies, elopements, and other stationary events are only permitted to occur at designated shelters and facilities on OSMP lands. The grassy lawn at Chautauqua Park is managed by City of Boulder Parks and Recreation and can be reserved by calling 303-413-7200. then “O” for the operator.

Holy Cross Event Deck – Vail

Looking for a venue with a 360-degree view? Holy Cross is at the top of Vail Mountain within the Rocky Mountains. Here you’ll be able to see Vail Valley and Gore Mountain Range. This venue in CO is available from June through September. You’ll have to pay a site fee and lift tickets per person.

Woods Walk – Crested Butte

Looking for a ceremony spot that involves some hiking? Wood Walk is a 2.9-mile trail near Crested Butte, CO. We love this area because you can have so many portrait opportunities with different backdrops. From Mt Crested Butte to the grassy field and aspen trees. It’s also considered a relatively easy hike you can have your friends and family join in!

Reservation fee? Woods Walk is one of the ceremony sites owned by Crested Butte Land Trust, that you can reserve for both elopements and larger weddings. A $2,000 payment is required at the time of booking for scheduling a wedding venue, $500 of which is a refundable deposit to ensure the property is left in a clean and natural condition

Beaver Creek Wedding Deck – Avon

Getting to Beaver Creek Wedding Deck just takes a chair lift to get you to the mountain wedding ceremony venue with Gorge Range views. This is a ceremony-only location, featuring stone seating. Sunrise and sunset wedding ceremonies here are pretty amazing.

Reservation fee? The ceremony fee starts at about $2,000, and then you’ll need a lift ticket per guest.

Guest limit: 2-300+

Halfway House Flagstaff – Boulder

The Halfway House on the summit of Flagstaff Mountain is perfect for micro weddings. You’ll get the famous Colorado mountain backdrop and an enclosed stone (perfect for a wedding arch) in front of the Boulder Valley. About 49 people can fit here and this spot is also dog-friendly. Renting this spot is incredibly easy, all reservations are made through Boulder County.

Reservation fee? $100-$275, depending on if you are a resident and the amount of time.

Black Mountain Lodge at Arapahoe Basin – Dillon

Location Map

Black Mountain Lodge is located at 11,500 feet at mid-mountain. The deck has some of the most epic views for your mountain wedding in CO. Perfect for your ceremony and reception, this venue also overlooks large fields of wildflowers.

Mountain Wedding Garden – Crested Butte

What’s more romantic than mountain views among wildflowers? In Crested Butte, within the Elk Mountain, Mountain Wedding Garden provides the perfect backdrop for your small wedding ceremony and reception. There is a wedding garden and pavilion that can be book separately Monday-Thursday (perfect for intimate weddings) or must be booked together Friday-Sunday. The venue is closed from October – May due to snow and rental rates start at $2,000.

Guest limit: The garden seats 200 guests and the pavilion seats 125 guests.

Ridgway State Park Overlook – Ridgeway

Within the San Juan Mountains in Colorado, you’ll find Ridgway State Park. Close to Ouray, CO, this outdoor venue spot offers a gorgeous overlook with mountain peaks and a sparkling reservoir! There is also an area you can use for your reception if you’re planning on having a small picnic with loved ones.

 Lioncrest Manor – Lyons

In Boulder County, close to Denver, Lioncrest Manor is on a private 50-acre estate. The mountain wedding venue offers 360-degree views during your ceremony, while also providing indoor and outdoor reception options.

Stunning views in romantic seclusion, that’s what North Star Gatherings guarantees. We love this wedding venue and everything it stands for. They are big on the environment and actually donate a portion of all wedding proceeds to the Navajo Water Project to help bring clean water to Navajo households. With Rocky Mountain views, multiple ceremonies and reception options, and inclusive packages, this venue is a winner in our book.

Piney River Ranch – Vail

The perfect mountain wedding venue that you’re able to tailor to your needs. Right on the edge of Piney Lake, within Gore Range, Piney River Ranch in Vail is surrounded by backcountry wilderness within the White National Forest. This mountain wedding venue in CO is also perfect for couples who want to explore and enjoy summer activities. After your ceremony, you two can go fly-fishing, canoeing, or just relax and enjoy the view.

Guest limit: They have a minimum guest requirement of 50 people and can accommodate a maximum of 200 people.

Outdoor Wedding Venues in Colorado

Sunrise Amphitheater – Boulder

Sunrise Amphitheater is one of the more affordable venues in Colorado. This spot is also a favorite among our adventurous couples who want to explore Lost Gulch, Chautauqua Park, or Artist Point before or after their ceremony. Even though there are a ton of wedding venues in Boulder, CO, Sunrise Amphitheater has our favorite views by far. This venue is open from May to October of every year, and you can actually reserve this venue up to two years in advance!

Reservation fee? $150-$400, depending on if you are a resident and how long you want your reservation to be.

Evergreen Lakehouse – Evergreen

Evergreen Lakehouse is the definition of the perfect lakehouse venue for your micro wedding in Colorado. It’s intimate, overlooks gorgeous views, and is romantic. Your fees will depend on when you want to plan your wedding. You can book your wedding from around mid-March through the first week in December.

Flying Horse Ranch – Larkspur

Flying Horse Ranch offers both all-inclusive and exclusive wedding packages for couples. We love this venue because you have the option of planning your wedding outdoors, in the barn, or in the ranch house. There are also so many perfect photo ops at this venue.

Church Ranch Event Center – Westminister

Church Ranch Event Center is a great indoor and outdoor option for wedding venues in Denver. You’ll get to enjoy waterfalls, Aspen trees, gardens, and other gorgeous views at this venue. Even though this venue has a capacity of 450 people, they also see multiple small weddings here too.

Flagstaff House – Boulder

If you and your partner are foodies, then Flagstaff House probably takes the cake for you. Fine wines, delicious food, and a breathtaking view. It’s a win-win with this venue. We love this venue for small, intimate weddings. The terrace is probably our favorite place and it’s the perfect spot for your ceremony.

Wild Basin Lodge – Allenspark

Did you know Wild Basin Lodge in Allenspark allows only one wedding a day to provide complete privacy for the couple and their guests? This makes for the perfect CO mountain wedding to check out! You even have 13 acres to explore, which means endless photo opportunities. For your ceremony, you can say your I do’s at Meadow Peak or River Run.

Reservation fee & packages? Starting at $5,000 (Jan. 1 – April 30) to $7,000 (May 1 – Oct. 15). Keep in mind this venue does have a food and beverage minimum.

River Bend – Lyons

Under red stone cliffs and surrounded by large trees by the banks of St. Vrain River is River Bend. If you’re planning a small wedding in Colorado, then this spot is perfect to spend your wedding day together.

Lyons Farmette – Lyons

Outside of Lyons and close to Boulder, you’ll see Lyons Farmette. This 4-acre property is near the St. Vrain River and covered in cottonwood trees. There are even alpacas, goats, llamas, and chickens at this wedding venue!

Blackstone River Ranch – Idaho Springs

Blackstone River Ranch is both an outdoor and indoor wedding venue, which helps if the weather gets a bit gloomy. Located close to Denver and reserving one event per day, you and your guests will have the whole area to explore.

Garden of the Gods Resort – Colorado Springs

Are you looking for a more luxurious wedding venue in Colorado? Garden of the Gods Resort in Colorado Springs is pretty breathtaking if you ask us. You’ll get the perfect mix of adventure and romance with its mountain backdrop and amazing accommodations.

This one is also another great Colorado mountain wedding venue to check out! Just make sure you apply for a permit for small weddings and elopements if you want to get married amongst the red rock formations there.

Shrine Mountain Inn – Vail

Looking for mountain views in Colorado? Shrine Mountain Inn is a secluded mountain lodge, located on 80 acres of private land, ideal for small weddings. Special events are allowed at this mountain venue between July 1 and October 1.

There are three cabins and all cabins must be rented for two nights in order to have a special event. Keep in mind your guest count can’t exceed 75 people. If you’re thinking about just eloping the two of you there, then give them a call!

Deer Creek Valley Ranch – Bailey

Deer Creek Valley Ranch has multiple packages from an all-inclusive one to a-la-carte options. We also love how you have the option to add accommodations for up to 20 guests at this venue. There are several outdoor ceremony sites to pick from, each with unique mountain or meadow views. Even though this is a traditional wedding venue, couples are able to personalize their experience here.

Beaver Run – Breckenridge

At the base of Tenmile Mountain Range, you’ll find Beaver Run Resort. You’ll get a resort to stay at and multiple outdoor and indoor ceremony and reception options to choose from. The resort itself offers easy access to hiking trails and skiing during the winter!

Guest limit: Spencer’s Deck is the most intimate setting with a 75-guest limit.

Lodge at Breckenridge – Breckenridge

Lodge at Breckenridge is the perfect wedding venue that’ll make you feel like you’re walking on the clouds (literally, since this hotel is at one of the highest altitudes in Colorado). The view you’ll get during your ceremony is probably one of the best views of the Rocky Mountains you’ll see from a wedding venue. The best part? This venue offers specialized elopement and micro-wedding packages and is also dog-friendly!

The ranch itself has indoor and outdoor ceremony sites from Broad Axe, an expensive meadow with views of the Rocky Mountains, or High Lonesome, just steps from the guest lodge and connected to the barn reception venue.

If you are looking for a venue with 360 mountain views and lodging while still being a private event, then check out Blue Sky Mountain Ranch. South of Boulder and 60 miles from Denver International Airport you’ll find this 120-acre ranch with a gorgeous log cabin lodge that can accommodate 12 guests.
