Rosy Sunset Cliffs Elopement Inspiration Session in San Diego, CA | Christian & Lee

This blushing seaside inspiration session is positively dreamy.

Event and floral designer Kelly Dickinson is the creative mastermind behind le Champagne Projects. She styled this elopement to showcase the beauty of an outdoor wedding and to highlight the possibilities of a more intimate affair. “Elopements [used] to be so taboo [and] underwhelming, running off to Vegas or to the courthouse to get married,” she says. “I feel like if a couple wants to elope, they should see it as an opportunity to get married somewhere gorgeous with all the bells and whistles, whether it be on a cliff next to the ocean, in a field of flowers, or on a mountaintop peak. The possibilities are endless.”

Kelly’s color palette for this session was romantic yet bold and provided a stunning contrast against the blue sea. “Mother Nature is hard to compete with sometimes… I made sure my florals didn’t get lost in the beauty of their surroundings but rather added to it.” Sunset Cliffs certainly lived up to its name and the golden hour lighting beautifully complimented the rosy tablescape. “When coming up [with] a design for this shoot, I knew I wanted to place a table as close to the water as we could. I really wanted to capture the look of an intimate, romantic setting for two… the couple was surrounded by water on three sides, [and] the wind that day blew the silk table runner, giving it a dramatic flair and [playful] movement to the flowers.”

Raise a glass to Kelly and her creative team, because this shoot will leave you speechless!

“Planning and designing an elopement really isn’t too different from doing a full wedding, [but] if anything it’s easier, because for me, the location plays such a big part in designs. If you’re stuck in a small, poorly decorated reception hall, it takes more work to transform, whereas [on] a mountaintop or [at] beach, I just have to add to the natural beauty.”

“With this shoot, we wanted to showcase how beautiful an outdoor wedding could be. Sunset Cliffs is just one beach out of many here in California that you can get married at, and honestly I can’t think of a better backdrop for a wedding than the Pacific.”

“One of the highlights for me was watching the flowers dance in the wind… Their movement was so romantic.”

“Sometimes getting away from the big wedding and celebrating in an intimate way, in a beautiful setting is all you need.”
