About This Ceremony at Point Reyes National Seashore

“The couple stayed in a treehouse in Inverness for a few nights. The morning of, we all went on a hike to get to know each other. That evening we headed out to the Seashore where we had a sweet little ceremony on the beach and hiked through sunset.

Point Reyes is located in northern California about an hour north of San Francisco. It’s my Ireland fix right here in the US!! Like Ireland it features rolling hills, cattle grazing, rugged cliffs, gorgeous trees and mild temperatures with a good chance of wind and rain. If it’s just the two of you taking in the natural scenery then no permit is necessary. If there are more than 25 people including you and your photographer or you plan on setting up a picnic, arch or other props unnatural to the area, then a special use permit is required.” [Trisha, the photographer]

Deciding on an Adventure Wedding at Point Reyes

“We chose an elopement because we wanted to celebrate us coming together in a more intimate setting. An elopement also felt more “us;” in the sense that we would be able to focus more on each other, have a greater ability to let the day flow naturally and reduce any stress associated with a wedding. A while back we adventured northern California and absolutely loved it. After seeing pictures of an elopement Trisha (Xsperience Photography) did at Point Reyes it seemed like a perfect option. The scenery makes you feel like you are in a different country.

With an elopement we were able to spend the majority of our day together, rather than separated or needing to mingle with others, we spent our morning doing our favorite activity – hiking, we took all the time we wanted taking pictures and ended with our favorite foods and grilling. The whole day was very relaxed and we were able to adjust on the go based on our needs.

The treehouse Trisha recommended was perfect for us, our little guy, and 8 family members. We all had our own personal space, while sharing the main level for drinks, dinner and mingling. It also gave us peace of mind knowing our photographers were close by in the guest cottage just down the stone path. We started with getting ready photos at the treehouse, and ended with drinks, grilling and cake at the treehouse. It was so perfect!” [Kelsey, the bride]

Planning an Intimate Wedding Experience

“The thought of planning an elopement felt a bit overwhelming for me because I didn’t know what my choices were or what I needed to even think about. I had a phone call with our photographer to discuss the elopement process, prices and all information. Because I didn’t know anything about the process she was really great in filling in all the information for me, knowing what locations would be best for the elopement and pictures, finding places to stay and recommending food and flower vendors if needed. Our photographer made the process really easy for me and took away a lot of the work that I thought I would need to do.” [Kelsey, the bride]

Memorable Moments During This Elopement

From the photographer:

“My favorite part of the wedding day was getting to spend the whole time with my partner. We were able to spend our morning doing something we love, hiking, and the rest of the day we were able to spend together truly enjoying and taking in every moment.”

From the couple:

“My favorite part of the experience was getting to spend the whole time with my husband. It was really nice sharing the day together, being in control of the timeline and being able to focus on ourselves. Every part of our elopement was so relaxing and just fun; there was no stress, no worrying and no one else that we needed to “please.” We were also able to take advantage of the location and go to different areas (all nearby) within Point Reyes, CA to get a wide array of different pictures which I will always cherish.”
