About This Elopement

Photography by Adventure and Vow

“Jackie and Stephen wanted their wedding day to feel like, ‘Can you believe we got to do this!?’ So they chose to elope just them two on a mountain on an early Summer day to avoid the crowds on the trails since there would still be some snow.

They got ready together in a cute A-Frame in the forest before setting out to hike up through the wildflowers to the snow fields. They shared a private first look and headed hand in hand to their ceremony. They shared private vows during their ceremony and ended it with a handfasting. To celebrate, we reached the top of the trail to enjoy a beautiful colorful sunset. There was so much joy as these two had been together since high school and now stood married, on the top of a mountain. After returning back to the Airbnb, in typical fashion, they started a fire and ate hot dogs together before ending the night.” [Traci, the photographer]

Planning Your Elopement in Washington

“There is no permit required to elope at this location, however, it is important to keep your group size under 12 people total to follow LNT and FS regulations. We personally recommend no more than 5 total. This area has fragile meadows so it is important to stay on trail.

We LOVE this elopement location as it is in our backyard of the mountains here in Washington State. This trail is short, but it is steep, which is important to keep in mind when deciding if it is right for you. There is also a little bit of off-roading in the mountains required to get here so if you do not have the right car or are not comfortable driving those types of roads this may not be the best option for you. Do not fear, this is a popular elopement destination though, so it is not too intense. With it being busy we always recommend our couples be aware of that and due to that pick to elope here at sunrise, on a weekday, and/or to be sure they are avoiding holidays or astronomical events.

Jackie and Stephanie booked us in May for their July elopement – which goes to show when you keep things simple, just you two it is easy to put together an incredible experience for your elopement day without a ton of time.” [Traci, the photographer]

Details We’re Loving

“Jackie and Stephen got ready in their adorable little A-Frame cabin spending a low-key cozy morning together setting the tone of the day. They hiked up the mountain taking in the views along the way. Then once we arrived at the ceremony location, they stopped and changed for a first look before their ceremony on a little snow field. During their ceremony, they literally tied the knot and shared vows as they held a pinky promise with each other which we thought was super cute. This day and these two had so much stoke and joy! It was so fun just watching them simply love each other and be so happy to be spending this day together in the beautiful mountains.

One of my favorite details from the couple’s day was the matching tattoos on their hands they got together in Florida before traveling here to Washinton for their day!” [Traci, the photographer]

Final Words of Advice

“While early July in the mountains can be a risky time period to elope, if you are not afraid of a little snow on your hike it can really pay off as the trails are less busy than they are during the heart of the summer! Getting to share that sherbert stunning sunset in the mountains with only one other group visiting the fire tower was magical.” [Traci, the photographer]
