Intimate Glacier Point Wedding at Yosemite National Park

yosemite national park glacier point taft point intimate elopement wedding

What happens when a sports photographer meets a fashion photographer? Itā€™s a match made in heaven!

Jenette specializes in fine art and fashion while Brian shoots outdoor action and landscapes. Although photography brought them together, it was their adventurous spirits, shared hobbies, andĀ mutual love of the outdoors that kept their love growing. ā€œBrian cried his eyes out at the first lookā€¦ They are seriously so sweet and so in love,ā€ photographer Valory Evalyn shares. ā€œThey got ready in little cabins in the woods, had their first look in the redwoods, had their ceremony at the Glacier Point Amphitheater, and watched the sunset from Taft Point. They only had their very closest friends and family [there], and it was so special.ā€

CHOOSING A LOCATION:

ā€œWe chose Yosemite National Park, because it is a place near and dear to both Jenette and I. The original plan was a ceremony amongst the redwoods, but [we] ended up choosing Glacier Point for the view and sheer beauty of overlooking the valley. There was the added fact that almost everyone coming to our wedding had never been and quite possibly would never make the trip on their own. We wanted to share this amazing place we love so much with our family and friends.ā€

PLANNING AN INTIMATE WEDDING:

ā€œPlanning was a bit crazy to say the least. We approached it with a small budget and DIY in mind. Both of us are in the photography industry and have quite a bit of experience with organizing shoots and the production behind it all, so that translated very well to the preparation and what needed to happen and whenā€¦ The hardest part was finding vendors in the area, due to the distance from major cities, but in the end, the local vendors really came through with everything and were so pleasant and helpful to deal with.ā€

[Brian]

PERSONAL TOUCHES:

ā€œAll of the paper goods were created and printed by us, Jenette watercolored scenes and details I then included as part of our invites, save the dates etc. We put together little wilderness wedding emergency kits for guests in case they forgot something like bug spray, aspirin, sunscreenā€¦ Our favorite part of the experience was the ceremony ā€“ absolutely perfect. Jenetteā€™s brother married us and having all our loved ones there made it what it was.ā€

PARTING THOUGHTS:

ā€œKeep it simple, donā€™t sweat all the little details ā€“ you are most likely the only ones who will notice if things arenā€™t how they should have been. Delegate duties ā€“ you canā€™t handle everything the day of, no matter how prepared you think you are.ā€

[Brian]

Thank you to Valory Evalyn for sharing this session, and congratulations to Jenette + Brian!
