About This Inspirational Vow Renewal at Mt. Bachelor

“Charlene and her husband Ryen created an adventurous, romantic, and exciting snowboarding elopement at their home resort of Mt Bachelor. As a bridal stylist, Charlene wanted to create a whimsical bridal look for her snowboarding vow renewal and dreamed of being able to snowboard with a billowing train behind her, and that’s exactly what she did! As soon as they stepped foot on the resort they were greeted with cheers, applause, and support from all the other skiers and snowboarders on the mountain!

he true adventure happened at the end of the day when Charlene lost her snowboard down a trail and ski patrol had to come to rescue her off the mountain! Ski patrol was amazing and even let Ryen lead her down part of a trail! They ended the day with shots, pizza, and beer from the resort cafe!” [Bridget, the photographer]

Planning Your Adventure at Mt. Bachelor

Mt Bachelor does not require a permit in order to have a ceremony on the mountain, but because it is an active ski resort, large elopements or weddings are not permitted in season. Since it was just Charlene, Ryen, and I, the resort had no problem with us photographing on the mountain, but we did contact them prior to getting written permission while planning.

The main thing to keep in mind when planning an elopement or vow renewal on Mt Bachelor during the winter is that it is an active ski resort and business. You should be courteous of other skiers and snowboarders and make sure your ceremony or photos aren’t directly in the way of any trails. The energy on the mountain is incredible and everyone is there to celebrate and have a good time, just make sure to follow standard ski/snowboard etiquette!

Be prepared for a variety of weather. Mt Bachelor can have incredible bluebird days and it can also have pow days, foggy summits, extreme wind, and even rain. So while planning keep some backup plans in mind in case the weather prevents you from doing your original plan. Also, incorporate layers into your wedding attire! If you want to wear a dress on the mountain, find fleece-lined leggings or snow pants you would be comfortable wearing underneath and a jacket you would be happy to be photographed in.” [Bridget, the photographer]

Details We’re Loving

“My favorite detail was definitely Charlene’s dress! When she told me she wanted to wear a ballgown snowboarding I was super excited and also a little hesitant because I wasn’t quite sure what the logistics of that would look like. But on the day of Charlene was INCREDIBLE and managed the dress so well. She looked like such an adventure bride and every single person on the mountain was impressed by her ability to snowboard so well with it on!” [Bridget, the photographer]

Memorable Moments From This Session

From the photographer:

“There are so many highlights from this wedding! One of my favorite experiences throughout the day was seeing all the other skiers and snowboarders celebrate them all day long. From huge smiles and ‘congratulations’ in the lift line to cheers from the lift while they were snowboarding, and the generosity from people in the lodge while they were celebrating with drinks and pizza. Although they had no guests it felt like the entire mountain was celebrating with them!” [Bridget, the photographer]
