What a way to wake up: take in Mt. Hood at sunrise by hot air balloon, floating over a field of Tulips that makes you think you’re in Oz. Though it’s early morning, you look and feel flawless thanks to your elopement makeup/hair prep team.
After a celebratory champagne toast upon landing (a hot air balloon tradition!), we drive in between rolling vineyards and head toward Mt. Hood, but not before a stop at one of Portland’s famous one-of-a-kind restaurants.
On our way up the mountain, we stop at Trillium Lake to take in the mountain from one of the best seats in the house. We then head up, up, up to Timberline Lodge above the treeline to take in sunset below the summit of a dormant volcano that has its own glaciers.
Whether you have your ceremony balloon-side or just as the sky turns blue on the top of Mt. Hood, this day is the right balance of adventure, romance, and whimsy.
