A day that begins in a deep valley, offers a luxurious amount of time to adventure, play, relax, and then ends on a precipice overlooking the path you have traveled together. And you didn’t even have to hike far at all! Mary Oliver asked, “Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?” We suggest you spend this day breathing, connecting, and feeling utterly unhurried. Together.
After getting ready at your lodge, we go out to meet the day. Beneath El Capitan, you will feel the sacred resonance of being small together. As we capture sweet and profound moments, we might get lucky and view some local wildlife. Having ample time for this day to unwind naturally is key.
We might travel by foot or cruise the paved paths on bikes, your choice. The mist of Yosemite Falls or Bridalveil Fall offers a tactile baptism of pure mountain water and a fun way to cool off while capturing some epic memories. A picnic at Mirror Lake or out in a shady oak grove breaks up the day, all under the watchful gaze of Half Dome.
For your ceremony, we scouted a place worthy of the promise. Along the banks of the Merced River offers privacy on unnamed beaches and room for guests on others marked on maps. The confluence at any Yosemite creeks offers a physical representation of the metaphorical rivers of your lives merging into one. This is where the water flows clear and cold, carving the canyon as surely as devotion carves a life.
A quick trip up the road to Tunnel View in the car sets us up for the finale: sunset and lantern portraits. While the crowds gather elsewhere, we slip away to a private perch along the Pohono Trail, high above the fray. There, as the sun says its final goodnight to the mountains and the first stars prick the lilac sky, you can share a drink and a dance, lantern-lit and joyful.
