The shorter photo-only version of our Sonora Pass packages. Our lifetime of local expertise ensures a day of seamless flow at the heart of Sonora Pass, the best pass in the Sierra Nevada (according to us 😉). And you’ll return home from this epic place with epic adventure portraits!

We meet at the PCT trailhead at the top of Sonora Pass. Arrive dressed or enjoy a simple wedding attire change (pop up tent available), followed by a first look moment in the pines, an unhurried picnic, and some playful portraits. You might opt for a little tailgating pre-game cocktail or a protein shake.

However you prep, we guide you onto the Pacific Crest Trail with a pre-scouted route to match your energy and the weather. Craggy ridge, azure blue lake, rushing waterfalls, quaking aspen groves, or verdant alpine valley… so many perfect options!

Your chosen adventure ascends into a vast alpine world of raw granite, ancient Juniper trees, and sapphire lakes. The trail weaves through volcanic ridges, fragrant sage brush, and hearty alpine wildflowers. The air is diamond-clear at the crest of the Sierra Nevada. Here, standing on the very roof of the range, you speak your vows in a sanctuary of stone and sky, witnessed by the wind.

As the sun dips and ignites the peaks in a fierce, scarlet alpenglow fire, we capture the finale of the day: the two of you dancing against this epic landscape. You may have ascended this crest seeking a view, but standing in the twilight, you realize you didn’t climb this high to leave the world behind, but rather to find the only place quiet enough to hear your future begin.

Important note: This experience is easily expandable to include overnight camping in our basecamp tent or to provide the logistics for world-class backpacking and horseback trips among peaks above 11,000 feet overlooking the Emigrant Wilderness. We highly recommend it! Kennedy Meadows and the Sonora Pass trailheads are also capable of hosting an intimate group of up to 15 guests with ample planning. We welcome your furry friends on this adventure, as we believe they are an essential part of your family you are affirming with your marriage.

We also offer elopement videography as an optional add-on.

Photo & Video Team Instead of hiring a photographer and a videographer separately, you can get both! As life partners, we work seamlessly together to capture the important moments of your wedding day in both cinematic video and high end editorial portraits worthy of printing in book, print, and fine art mediums.
Candid & Editorial Instead of feeling like a hype-girl paparazzi experience, we curate these moments while giving you two the space to be present with each other. And if you feel a little awkward and want a little guidance, we can easily and kindly guide you into poses that feel good and look good, too.
Rugged Ceremonies Kira is ordained and Forrest is your willing witness, but we do not preside over or intrude in your ceremony. If you prefer to have an officiant to guide your ceremony, they are welcome to join us.
Fine Art Photo Albums Complementary design is included to help you visualize what your memories could look like in a fine art print. Albums can save marriages—we refer to them as “marriage insurance”. We highly recommend it for your favorite photos.
Guided Adventure Add-ons As local experts, we can integrate fully guided adventure activities into your day—from backcountry hiking to climbing to rafting to traversing more technical terrain.
Guests We are Leave No Trace certified photographers. Our low-capacity focus (2-4 guests) ensures we have minimal impact on the environment. If you have a larger wedding party, we will direct you to designated areas appropriate for groups of humans to celebrate together.
Multi-Day Expeditions If your elopement requires a deeper trek into the backcountry or multiple locations across the High Sierra, we offer 1.5-day and 2-day tiers. These extended experiences allow for a slower pace, longer travel time, additional adventure activities, and the capture of rare natural phenomena like “Blue Hour” star-scapes or remote summit sunrises. You also get many more photos and a longer cinematic film with these longer timelines.
Weather Makes It Better We come prepared for rain, wind, and snow to brave the magical forces of nature – they do make for epic moments, especially at storm break! We will inform you on the latest weather so that you can prepare accordingly.
Seasonal Offerings from Nature Spring offers iconic snow capped mountain peaks, mid summer offers wildflower meadows on high, fall brings a gold rush of Aspen and Cottonwood leaves to the evergreen landscape, and winter brings cold clean air and snowfall.
Expand Your Horizon While this 12-hour package is a perfect immersion into the high Sierra, your story doesn’t have to end at sunset. Our intimate knowledge of this landscape allows us to seamlessly extend your adventure. Ask us about upgrading to a Two-Day experience to include a mule ride into the Emigrant Wilderness, or extra time to hike a little higher on an overnight backpacking trip.
