If you’ve found yourself thinking, “let’s get married at the Cliffs of Moher,” allow me to suggest somewhere less…tour bus-y.
This peninsula in West Cork is the definition of a hidden gem. Even a lot of the locals don’t know about it (and I intend to keep it that way). After getting ready at your nearby lodging, we’ll head out there along winding, country roads, some so small they have grass growing down the middle. The landscape shifts this far out on the edge of the island, until you find yourselves completely alone at the top of a grassy headland.
Enjoy views of the sea, the rolling hills behind you, and a few ruins as you stroll along this wide-open trail. After climbing over a stile (or two), you’ll walk through a pair of standing stones as the land slopes away on either side. 360-degree ocean views open up, with rugged cliffs on either side.
This is where you’ll say your vows at the edge of the map, wind whistling in off the Atlantic, no one else around.
Afterwards, we’ll wander the rocky beach nearby as the sun sets and the mist rolls in.
