Vendors For Your Michigan Elopement Package

When putting together your Michigan elopement package, you want to consider your overall elopement budget. Please note that you are not required to include every vendor type in your package.

Are you ready to start planning your Michigan elopement?

Check out our vendor categories to consider when thinking about your elopement package:

Photographers

Elopement photographers are where most of your budget will be going towards, but for good reason. On average, our photographers will charge $2,500-$6,000 per elopement. This depends on how many hours of coverage (half-day versus full-day) a couple wants for their Michigan elopement package.

Videographers

Like elopement photographers, videographers are going to be a great investment for your elopement day to document your adventures together. On average, our videographers will charge $2,500-$6,000 per elopement. Keep in mind, this depends on how long you want your elopement footage to be. For example, a full-day video coverage would cost more versus covering just your elopement ceremony.

Officiants

On average, our officiant members will charge $500-$800 per elopement. Officiants are great to orchestrate your favorite traditions and wedding vows. It’s also important to note that some other vendors are also officiants, so we recommend always asking.

Elopement Planners

You don’t necessarily always need a wedding planner for your elopement adventure, but having a planner does help if couples have a very clear elopement vision. The average price for our planner members is $1,000-$3,000. Planners are also great for couples who don’t want to DIY or worry about anything, or couples who live far from their elopement destination.

Florists

Since you’re planning an elopement, you’ll need less floral arrangement than your average traditional wedding in Michigan. If you aren’t down to DIY your own bridal bouquet, then a florist in Michigan can average to $300 to $600.

Venues

There are plenty of public land options to consider eloping to in Michigan, but there are also some pretty neat private venues in Michigan to plan your elopement adventure. Our team loves private venues because they do offer you more privacy and flexibility when you two are going to elope. Private venues, on average, will charge $300 to $4,000, depending on the location.

When to Elope in Michigan

The most popular time to get married in Michigan tends to be the summer months, with Fall being the second most popular season. Michigan is gorgeous year-round, but it does get very cold during the winter. Expect below-freezing temperatures and snowstorms. We personally love Fall and Spring elopements because of the milder weather and slower peak season.

Each season in Michigan brings its unique beauty and challenges. Here’s a guide to help you plan your adventure wedding in Michigan, including weather details and helpful tips for each season.

Spring (March to May)

Spring in Michigan brings blooming flowers and budding trees creating a picturesque backdrop for your wedding.

Wedding Permits and Marriage Licenses in Michigan

If you’re thinking about eloping in Michigan, then you need to consider permits and obtaining a legal marriage license. Here’s what you need to know:

  • Go to the clerk’s office in the county where you plan on getting married.
  • Application fees for Michigan marriage licenses are $20-$30, depending on if you’re a Michigan resident.
  • After processing your application at the specific Michigan county, there is a 3-day waiting period before validating the license.
  • All licenses must be used within 33 days in order to be valid.
  • You’ll need an officiant (some of your options include a federal judge, country clerk, minister, or district court judge from the state of Michigan.) and two witnesses over 18 to make things legit.
  • Make sure to return your signed marriage license back to the county clerk within 10 days to seal the deal.

Not loving all the steps? You can always plan a commitment ceremony instead!

Reminder to get your special use permit for your adventure: Most state parks require a permit to hold a wedding ceremony, even a small ceremony. Our best advice is to head over to the specific location’s website we mentioned and check to see their permit fees and conditions. If you’re still unsure of where to start, then our Wandering Weddings members in Michigan are perfect resources to help plan your elopement.
