Believe it or not, this gorgeous elopement was photographer Kari Martinez’s very first. Struck by its intimate beauty, she found the experience truly moving. “I’d like to advise anyone thinking about an elopement, or even a small, elopement-style ceremony to do it,” she says. “The whole day was so stress-free and was all about [Brooke and Ryan] and the love they shared… that’s how it should be.”
Quiet moments such as Brooke preparing to step into her gown as her mother looked on, arranging her bouquet, made this wedding particularly special. “I loved how much thought was put into this day,” Kari shares. “It was small, intimate, and absolutely perfect.”
Prepare yourself – the raw emotion in these images will have you reaching for the tissues!

CHOOSING AN ELOPEMENT:
“We chose an elopement because we are just really laid back people. We didn’t want to stress about the little pieces that make up a wedding. We just wanted to get married in a way that represented us.
My favorite part of the experience was being able to be completely in each and every moment. I wasn’t distracted by the hustle and bustle of a party. It was just a beautiful day in the forest with the people I love.”
CHOOSING AN ELOPEMENT LOCATION:
“We both have been going to Big Bear since we were young, and when I thought about somewhere beautiful to have the ceremony, it was my first thought. You can go any season and get such breathtaking photos.”
PLANNING AN ELOPEMENT:
“Planning was so easy! We went on a camping trip a few months before and mapped out all the locations we wanted in our pictures. I found Kari, our photographer, on Facebook, and she was so accommodating and had no problem driving all the way up the mountain for us!”
“My advice is to go with what feels right to the two of you. People feel pressured to make other people happy when weddings come around, but it’s all about the two of you.”
