“My back hurts.” That was the excuse Madison provided when Caleb first asked her to join him on a rock climbing date. Now, two years later, they spend nearly every weekend climbing together. Most at home when they are outdoors, Madison and Caleb travel the country camping, hiking, and bouldering.
Photographer Hailey Pierce met the pair in Flowery Branch, GA where she captured the tender essence of their relationship in this playful session with an unexpected twist. After dancing on the dock and cozying up in a boat, the adventurous couple agreed to take a dip in the lake. “This shoot was filled with amazing memories,” Hailey says, “but the absolute best [was] them jumping in the freezing cold lake… and getting cozy in one another’s arms… Another highlight was them filling a little boat with some pillows and blankets and snuggling up in it since he happened to propose to her on a lake in a similar boat!” The session was a particular accomplishment for this photographer as it marked her first attempt at shooting a couple in water. Though the venture was initially daunting, Hailey says pushing her limits was a valuable learning experience, and we think she delivered marvelously!

“I WANTED THEIR ENGAGEMENT SHOOT TO REPRESENT THEM AS A COUPLE, SO OUTDOORSY, FUN, AND YET INTIMATE ALL AT THE SAME TIME. I ALSO WANTED IT TO FIT THEIR STYLE AND PERSONALITIES, AND THEY BOTH HAVE WILD HEARTS AND BOHEMIAN STYLES, SO WHY NOT TRY TO REPRESENT ALL OF THAT IN A SHOOT?”

“THEIR LOVE… RADIATES FROM THE WAY THEY LOOK AT ONE ANOTHER, AND THE WAY THEY GENUINELY SMILE AND LAUGH WITH EACH OTHER. NOT ONE OF THESE SMILES OR LAUGHS ARE FAKE OR STAGED… THESE TWO LIGHT UP LIKE NO OTHER WHEN THEY ARE AROUND EACH OTHER…”
