Tara Lilly of Tara Lilly Photography teamed up with planner Catherine Bradfield of The Wedding Boutique Italy, to create this stunning Amalfi Coast elopement inspiration session. “To say it is one of the prettiest places I have ever visited, is an understatement,” Tara shares. “We started the day out in a beautiful villa high on a cliff-top overlooking the ocean. The smell of salt water and the hypnotic rhythm of the waves created a truly romantic atmosphere as we made our way down some steps to a secluded area by the water… As beautiful as the villa and ceremony was, nothing could prepare me for the setting Catherine created to end the evening. Just as the sun was setting, we moved to some old farm ruins perched right on the side of a cliff with a west-facing view of the mountains that form the coastline. Sitting down to a candlelit table on the edge of the world, we all toasted with limoncello as the sky lit up with the same colors as the floral centre piece.”
Catherine is a skilled wedding coordinator whose keen eye for design is reflected in the sophisticated decor and beautiful floristry of this session. Tara described working with her as an honor, noting, “To top it off, Catherine is fluent in English, Italian, and French and is a marriage officiant for civil ceremonies!”

What was your experience coordinating this session?
“It was such a fun day, and geographically we went from the bottom of the mountain at sea level, to the very top which is quite ambitious when you are trying to get the best light and the best weather – two things you can’t control. Anyway, we pulled it off and that table setting has become rather iconic for everyone involved. The location still remains more or less secret. Many people think they know where it is given the well known ‘Path of the Gods’ that runs along the Amalfi Coast towards Positano, but that isn’t correct, and we prefer keeping it this way! The whole team was amazing, and we finished off with a well-deserved gin and tonic, watching the sunset with that view. Work has to be fun and that starts with working with a fantastic team.”

Can you describe your creative process? What was your vision for this session?
“Coming from a background in fashion, I try to make shoots as much about style as about the intimacy and capturing the couple in a beautiful space. Details are important, and I love to feature the Bride in a dress that is a little more out of the ordinary. We love to work with fashion forward Brides who want to be different from a classic Bride so we try to bring this into everything we do.”
What were the highlights of this session?
“People say never to work with children or animals, but having a lovely and well-behaved donkey on-set was amazing… it was a long-term dream to shoot and set up a stunning table with ‘that’ Amalfi Coast backdrop. To this [day] I still haven’t experienced a view more breathtaking. It quite literally takes your breath away.“
Any advice to share?
“However much you prepare, things always happen on shoots that you can’t account for, so it is important to bring your best imagination and creativity every time. It helps working with wonderful suppliers and a truly talented photographer! “
