The inspiration behind this styled elopement was simple: “I have had lots of clients express concern over rain,” photographer Olivia Peabody says. “I really wanted to show them that rain and wind and snow don’t have to ruin a session and that if anything, it can take it to the next level.” Her models, Shannon and Levi, may be married with kids, but they certainly have not lost their sense of adventure. Levi proposed to his wife on a mountaintop, so it was only fitting that this shoot take place where the couple feels most at home.
The group risked a drive up treacherous roads and hiked several miles with two heavy bouquets and a gorgeous gown in tow, all to capture these scenic Silver Star Mountain views. “I kept it simple, as I think elopements should be,” Olivia shares. “I wanted the shoot to be romantic and true to Southwest Washington – rain, fog, mountains, trees, [and] even a little snow. I wanted to inspire other couples and photographers to brave the elements and not be afraid to get wet and dirty.”
These windblown shots certainly have us feeling inspired!

“I love going places other people don’t make the effort to get to – off the beaten path, up mountains, through caves… whatever it takes to capture something unique and beautiful.”
Olivia Peabody, Photographer
“I couldn’t pick a favorite part of the session if I tried, but overall the best part of the experience was the fact that everyone was SO game for an adventure. I often wonder if I drive others crazy with my wild goose chase photo sessions… My goal for this session was to showcase the potential for mountaintop elopements right here in Vancouver, WA. I kept it simple, as I think elopements should be.”
