When it came to proposing to his girlfriend of five years, Dayne had a plan. He reached out to photographer Gianna Vasquez to help bring his vision it to life, and they spent several months carefully preparing for the big day. “He [said he] wanted epic photos of him proposing to Tiff, because she deserved it,” Gianna recalls. “I absolutely adore how dedicated Dayne was to this proposal. He would write me almost every week, just to let me know he was pumped for it!”

Tiffany was led to believe she was participating in a couples session, allowing Gianna to discuss styling with her ahead of time. In a last minute change of plans, the group changed the location from Big Bear Lake to Mammoth, CA, one of the locations on Gianna’s bucket list! “On the day of the proposal, there was a two-day storm headed towards California, and we got hit with up to 40mph winds and 20-30 degree weather, plus some light snow. It was insane!” Gianna shares. She was particularly impressed by this couple’s willingness to brave the storm, given her experience in the past with clients canceling due to unexpected weather conditions. “When I asked Tiff if she still wanted to walk out a mile or so, she said, ‘Yeah, I don’t do anything half-assed. Let’s do it!’ They were so down for adventure…”

The Proposal:

“Honey, I will always remember the first night we met, and I asked if it was okay to kiss you. Since that night, I’ve always known you were the one that would make me the happiest man alive. I couldn’t imagine living life without you, and I can’t wait for all the new memories we are going to create in our new life together. I promise to make you smile and laugh each and every day for the rest of our lives. I promise to love you forever and be the man and husband you deserve and treat you like my queen. Will you marry me?”

Advice from the Photographer:

“…make sure you scout the area beforehand, check the weather, and make the best of whatever situation is thrown at you! Being an adventure photographer means you have to brave any weather condition or obstacle that comes your way. Reassure your clients and make them feel comfortable in uncomfortable situations! I promise it will pay off.”
