Cozy Hot Springs Styled Session at Olympic National Park | Aaron & McKenna

She cannot recall the exact moment the idea formed, but photographer Kim Butler could hardly believe it when she set to researching the concept of a natural hot springs session and found very few results. Though the Olympic Peninsula is her home, Kim had never shot at Olympic National Park prior to this session. She put out a call for a couple, and on the first clear day after a week of relentless rain, the three ventured two and a half miles into the park to bring Kim’s vision to life. “…we were the only people there for at least a good hour which made it nice and quiet,” Kim says. “On our way out we passed at least 35 people! We picked the perfect day for it, since then there has been so much rain that you can’t even get access to the road up! It was just perfect.”

Kim appreciated when her couple dove straight into this adventurous session without hesitation, exclaiming, “McKenna has a gorgeous body and was not afraid to [show] it off, [proving] that the connection between her and Aaron is hotter than the springs!” McKenna and Aaron, a professional wake surfer, have been inseparable since the day they met. “I have never met anyone more loving, caring, genuine, and respectful as he is,” McKenna says. “I am so thankful to have such a fun loving best friend to live life with now and share all my sweetest moments with. I couldn’t be more blessed to have someone who compliments my flaws and highlights my strengths as well as he does.”

Kim’s advice to fellow photographers and hikers? Set out early and wear proper attire! “My shoes were just not good enough, and I managed to lose half a toenail because of it. But as you can tell, it was totally worth the pain of the hike!”

“IT WAS JUST THE PERFECT CONDITIONS… IT WAS SNOWY, COLD, BUT THE SUN WAS SHINING ON US MOST OF THE WAY UP SO [THAT] MADE THE 2.5 MILES HIKE EVEN MORE ENJOYABLE.”

“MY FAVORITE PART WAS THE LOWER HOT SPRINGS, MORE OPEN, EASIER TO MANEUVER AROUND AND GOT SOME OF THE BEST PHOTOS OF THE DAY!”
