Aly and Julian travelled all the way from Miami, Florida to say “I do” amongst the red rocks of Sedona. Arizona photographer Kali Ponx had the honor of capturing their day and shares what a profound experience it was for her. “This elopement really inspired me to elope myself,” she says. “Seeing how relaxed, in love, and how much fun these two were having made me think, ‘Yes, this is what it is all about.'”
The couple rose before dawn that morning and shared a sweet sunrise hike to greet the day. Together they scouted locations and chose the perfect site for their ceremony. “I gave them several recommendations, and they loved them all but wanted to see them with their own eyes,” Kali shares. “They spent [a] few days hiking around and found their ceremony spot that morning. The fact that they were so relaxed… just made their whole day that much better, because they knew at the end of the day they were going to get married somewhere beautiful, and that was all that really mattered.” Following an adventurous hike in her wedding gown, the bride kicked off her boots and prepared to exchange vows in her bare feet. A passing hiker graciously bore witness to the ceremony, and soon after, Aly and Julian were man and wife!

“…they said that they wanted to keep it extremely minimal. They really wanted the experience captured rather than a lot of posed photos, so I really tried to focus on that… so every time that they look through their images, it’s like they are reliving their day.”

“These two were a dream to work with and everything a photographer could hope for. They 100% trusted me and let me take the lead on everything. I hardly even had to give them any direction because they were on cloud nine after making it official.”
“Their entire session was absolutely amazing. They were extremely relaxed and had the biggest smiles… [they] just wanted their elopement to be about the two of them.”
Thank you to Kali Ponx for sharing this session, and congratulations to Aly + Julian!
