About This Styled Elopement at Vale Royal Barn

Photography by Ally Frances Photo

“My goal with this shoot was to highlight the beauty of nature in autumn in Michigan, in conjunction with highlighting the amazing Michigan vendors I worked with.

From the beautiful autumn tones of the makeup to the unique and gorgeous hairstyle with fake fall plants, to the rich and colorful flower setup for the arbor, everything was so special.

Another unique aspect of the shoot was that we incorporated their favorite coffee drinks for a coffee moment, their favorite books together as a book moment, and their favorite sport, tennis, for a spunky moment.

The sky was the limit for making the shoot creative, fun, and unique to the couple’s personalities. Involving everyone and combining our creative energies and spirit was truly groundbreaking for all of us.” [Ally, the photographer]

Planning Your Elopement in Michigan’s Venue

“This took place at the venue of Vale Royal Barn, Fenton, Michigan. It has a huge amount of land and woods to explore.

Eloping in Michigan in the autumn season is MAGIC! Since this venue has so much land, there are so many woods and areas to explore with the most beautiful colors on the trees. From the pond area to the stream in the woods to the open fields, to the bonfire pit, Vale Royal Barn has so many nature areas to utilize for the outdoor elopement experience.”[Ally, the photographer]

Memorable Moments From This Session

From this photographer:

“The couple brought their tennis rackets because that is something they love to do together, so we took a fun photo of them holding their rackets and kissing.

Another sweet moment was when they went inside the venue’s guest house for a photo lounging out on the couch and reading their books together. One of their favorite things to do together is reading. So we had a whole photo moment for that as well.

Another main highlight was when they were on the deck on the water reading their vows to each other. It was such a time-stands-still moment because when they were reading the vows, the way Bethany looked at Abe was so powerful, and it was as if nothing else in the whole world mattered to them. That is the whole reason I became a photographer in the first place.”

Details We Love About This Session Inspiration

“For the styled shoot, we incorporated so much of their personality and so many touches to celebrate the beauty of autumn: their real vows, their wedding attire, their favorites like books and tennis, a vibrant autumn-colored floral arch on the arbor, a unique autumn bouquet, and a vintage heart cake to celebrate.” [Ally, the photographer]

Advice From The Photographer

“My main message for other photographers is: to reach out to vendors you adore and would love to work with. Pitch yourself to them, and they might just say yes! Then, dream big creatively as well, get as many vendors as you can involved, allow them to do what their expertise is, let their creativity shine, and let the magic unfold.” [Ally, the photographer]
