About This Elopement

“Lara and Alan are the definition of adventure. High school sweethearts who have been together for over a decade. They decided to celebrate their 12-year anniversary by eloping in one of the most breathtaking places on Earth—Grand Teton National Park. As two incredibly adventurous souls, they were excited to take on the challenge of a winter elopement, and the day was nothing short of magical.

With temperatures plummeting to a crisp 2°F and snow blanketing the ground, the park was eerily quiet, giving us a chance to explore its raw beauty without the crowds that typically swarm in the summer months. Given the many roads closed due to winter conditions, we rented e-bikes to cruise around the park, making it all the more adventurous and memorable.

The entire day felt like something out of a dream.

We kicked off the celebration with Lara and Alan’s first look, and then wandered through the park, taking in the stunning winter landscape. At Jenny Lake, they exchanged vows in complete solitude as the sun dipped behind the mountains, casting a soft glow over the serene scene. And just when we thought the day couldn’t get any more magical, a curious little fox appeared as Lara and Alan cut their cake, making for an unforgettable moment. The cold didn’t stop these two from embracing every part of their adventure, and it was such an honor to capture the quiet beauty and deep love that surrounded them on this special day.” [Julia, the photographer]

Permits and LNT

“I always prioritize leaving no trace during every shoot—it’s so important to protect the beautiful natural spaces we enjoy. We left nothing behind but footprints!

For permits, we didn’t need one for this session since it was just the couple and me exploring the park together. I actually sent in a check to request a permit, but the kind woman at the park’s permitting office called to let me know it wasn’t necessary for our small group. If you’re planning something larger, it’s always best to check the park’s regulations to ensure you’re covered.” [Julia, the photographer]

Top Tips For Eloping in Grand Tetons

“Lara and Alan eloped in the Grand Tetons in November, so it was cold! It was only 2 degrees when we started, so I recommend dressing warmly with plenty of layers, hand warmers, and good socks.

Another tip: the Grand Tetons are huge, with so many stunning locations to explore. Give yourself plenty of time to take it all in—you won’t regret it!” [Julia, the photographer]

Memorable Moments From This Elopement

From the photographer:

“Since it was winter, some roads in the park were closed to cars, so we rented e-bikes to get to Jenny Lake. Riding through an empty park, which is usually packed during the summer, felt surreal and magical.

Another standout moment was when Lara and Alan read letters from their friends and family. They had put together a beautiful book filled with heartfelt messages to read on their wedding day.

Sitting on a dock by Jenny Lake, sharing sandwiches, and reading those letters was such an intimate and touching moment. To top it off, a fox made a surprise visit, which was so special and felt like a little wedding guest!” [Julia, the photographer]

Details We’re Loving

“I adored the book of letters they created. It was such a thoughtful way to include their friends and family, even though they weren’t physically there. Those heartfelt notes added so much meaning to their day, and it’s a detail I’ll always remember.” [Julia, the photographer]

Final Words of Advice

“Take the time to fully enjoy your elopement—give yourself a full day (or even more!) to celebrate your love.

An elopement is just as meaningful as a big wedding, and you deserve the time and space to soak in every moment.” [Julia, the photographer]
